Digital simulation

The performance of the net is simulated during the design stage :

  • We take into account the different factors which affect sinking speed: ballast, type of twine and diameter, mesh size, hanging ratio, length of purse line and of tow line, filtration ratio …

  • And also diverse parameters such as the effect of currents at various depths, of varying strengths and from different directions.

We monitor the tensions over the whole of the net and along the purse lines throughout the shooting and towing stages. We can also analyse and compare how the performance of the net is affected by :

  • Changes in criteria such as shooting speed, length of towline …

  •
  • Taking into account one or more currents of different strengths and directions and at various depths,

  •
  • Or also by introducing an incident at the shooting stage, such as suddenly slowing down the purse line, once or several times.

We monitor the speed of the purse lines according to different rates of winch power and the boat's volume.

In this manner we can detect any potential defect in the purse seine net: slow sinking speed, too much drag, poor filtration ratio, risks of tearing ... Being aware of the possible defects in the net allows us to modify the design prior to manufacturing.

Today Le Drezen has the tools and the technical expertise to accompany the professionals in the elaboration of their purse seine net, as well as a thorough knowledge and understanding of the particularities and demands of the tuna fishing industry.

These are some of the key elements for a net with optimal performance.
